Free promo codes for Fonty

Just a quick note to let you know that we just posted some free download codes for our font search app Fonty over at Macrumors here:

About Fonty…
Fonty is an app to help you choose the a font (installed on your Mac) with the character support you need.

For example, imagine you’re creating a document with text in English, Russian and Polish. It also needs to have the symbol for the Yen currency. You want to know which fonts you have which will support all the required characters. Fonty can tell you! Simply tick the characters sets and you’ll be shown all the appropriate fonts.

Use the built in character sets or create your own

Fonty ships with character sets for some popular languages and some symbols. However, you don’t have to search by language support. Fonty’s real strength is that you can create your own character sets (in File>Preferences) and use them to search your fonts. For example, you might want to search for fonts that support braille or musical symbols etc. No problem, just create a character set and you’re in business.

Mac App Store back online

A number of users pointed out that yesterday (11th March 2015) they were unable to buy our products on the Mac App Store. This was because of an issue at Apple’s end and so was completely beyond our control. Luckily, the Mac App Store is now back online so if you were one of the unlucky few yesterday, please try again today. Apologies for the inconvenience.

As a reminder, our products are:

Barcode Basics – Barcode generation

Ai Actions – Automator actions for controlling Adobe Illustrator

OnScreen Barcode Scanner – Scans barcodes from your Mac’s screen

Script Backgrounder – Make AppleScript Applets run in the background

Stopwatch Basics – A simple stopwatch app

PDF Basics – A simple PDF viewer with the ability to combine pdfs, extract pages and extract text.

Script Backgrounder for AppleScript released

Script Backgrounder turns AppleScript apps into background processes

Many moons ago there existed an app called DropScript Backgrounder. It allowed you to turn an AppleScript application* into a background process, that’s to say it would be hidden from the Dock and Force Quit menus. It can be helpful, for example, if you want a stay open app to run unobtrusively in the background without disturbing the user.

Unfortunately, DropScript Backgrounder no longer seems to be available so we’ve created our very own Script Backgrounder to fill the gap it has left. You can get your copy from the Mac App Store.

* An app created in Script Editor and saved as an application.

OnScreen Barcode Scanner released!

Scan barcodes from your screen on Mac OS X

Scan barcodes direct from your screen on Mac OS X

We’ve just released OnScreen Barcode Scanner (yep, it took us ages to think of the name). It lets you scan a barcode that you have on screen and determine the type and encoded number. It’s a useful tool for QA checks, or for confirming that the bars on the code really do represent the digits below.

• OnScreen Barcode Scanner supports UPC-A, UPC-E, ISBN, EAN13 and EAN8 codes.
• OnScreen Barcode Scanner is based on the well established ZBAR barcode recognition system

Ai Auto Save – Yosemite Update

Hi all,

Some users have contacted us to say that they’re having problems getting Ai Auto Save (our Adobe Illustrator Auto Save app) to launch on Mac OS X 10.10, also known as Yosemite. We’ve investigated, fixed the bug and resubmitted it to Apple’s Mac App Store.

Unfortunately we have to wait for Apple to review our update and make it available and this can take 7-10 days. That means that *hopefully* it will be available in the first week of November 2014. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Naturally, the update will be free for all existing users and available through Software Update. Anyone using 10.9 or earlier is unaffected.

Thanks for your patience and thanks to those of you who took the time to report the issue.
